In the Spring of 2021, I took an Ad Campaigns course led by Professor Jean Railla in which we developed mock campaigns for social good. My group of me and two other students, Emily Wisdom and Reilly Karger, created a hotline for women walking home alone in the city to safely get to their destination.
When developing the campaign we decided both the visual identity and taglines needed to be extremely blunt as people walking by, especially in a crowded city, would not have much time to read them. The font and color-contrast needed to be bold to allow the hotline to work effectively.
Alongside public transportation posters, we created an animation that would play through the night on LinkNYC screens, all of which have an emergency button that calls the police.
Finally, we created a mock-collaboration with NYC based streetwear brand, StayCool NYC to spread our message throughout young people in the city.
